Default diy fuel filter help

i try to do everything myself (change oil, brakes, put the third row seat in)but i ve never changed a in line fuel filter on any vehicle can someone give me some insite on the difficulty level of an 03 h2 hummer im assuming not very hard skid plate here a bolt there. does the tank need to be close to empty for gas spillage reasons any help would be greatful dont want the dealer to get me in the wallet if you know what i mean

It's not a hard job. Fuel tank level is not an issue. Remove the fuel pump fuse and run the vehicle until the engine dies. That will eliminate any high pressure in the fuel line. It's an easy swap after that. Be carefull when purchasing a replacemnet fuel filter. You want to make sure you dont buy a cheap imported filter. GM or Wix is what I use.

where exactly is the filter and how do you get it off? How often should you replace it?
