Diablo tire size
Hey guys,
anyone know what the biggest tire size is on the U7193 diablo predator?
Im hoping it will go to at least 44, my super chip didnt go over 38s... I just bought one to replace the super chip that I sold to my buddy tonight, so im hoping i will get some better adjustments and such out of it with the diablo.
I cant wait to try out the torque management adjustment to see how it does with the 4.10s and the 44s. my super chip did a pretty good job but at 55-60 mph it would run 2000 rpms and on any sort of hill at all, it would kick it out of over drive and up to 2300 or so.
Cant wait,
steve
ps. yeah i know that i should be running 4.88s or 5.10s with tires that big. its not in the budget right now and it drives just fine with the 4.10s. if i need it low, i lock it in low and enjoy, low is plenty to make it crawl really slow through anything. LOL

4.10 and 44's will quickly wear out the lock up clutch in your torque converter. When you're in overdrive on the highway and your rpm's are fluctuating between the 2000 to 3000 range, the torque converter lock up is kicking in and out because there isn't enough power to keep it locked in. So it's wearing it down every time this happens. With larger tires, it's like your hauling a trailer all the time. Trans then runs hotter also. I have 40" tires and 4.10 gearing and a toasted transmission and torque converter. I have a Mega Monster transmission rebuild kit with a new torque converter. I also ordered 4.88's so this doesn't happen again. Just saying from experience that you'll save yourself a lot of trouble by changing gearing. The parts to change the gearing for front and back are $876.00 if you can do it yourself. I get 8.2 MPG with 40" and 4.10's. I can't imagine what your getting with 44's
Thanks for the explanation of why its bad to run 44s and 4.10s again... like i said in my first post, i know why its bad. I dont have the extra g note to put them in there and really dont want to. i dont want to change it, with my super chip in there, it did fine pulling them along. its not a daily driver, its a slow cruiser for when i want to go enjoy myself. i dont need to waste the money putting gears in it to make it run any better. it runs good now. I am, however, open to donations for gears for a full writeup on how they perform with the 44s.
i get the same you do, 6-8 mpg usually. if im on the road cruising 8.5 mpg at 60 mph, is what i got last fall over about 300 miles of checking while on a trip. if im just driving around crawling on back roads and stuff, 6ish. if i wanted good mileage, i would have bought a prius... not a 9' tall hummer.
now back to the original question, does a diablo tuner go to 44s?
Thanks,
steve
