A decal made just for all you 4 runner fans!!
ORIGINAL: importkiller
maybe for it's size, don't think the 4 runner or any suv back then could of taken on the wrangler off road. I had a 93 wrangler 4.0 5 speed that had an amazing creeper gear.

mine is actually a sad sad memory. I bought it brand new in 93, I was a junior in high school but had been working since I was 12 and saved every dime. I had enough for half the price of the vehicle and my Dad paid the other half. It was a 93 - Black with the renegade package. When I got it my brother took it to his lift guy and got me a 3" lift and 33" mudders....I was HOT CHIT!!!!! I had it for 6 months and someone stole it while I was at work....man was I bummed. As a kid I of course thought my world was over.
The 4.0 was a damn good motor , one of the best power plant 6 cyl. I've ever driven....suck's that someone stole it . Wrangler was dam good off roader too.
As for the 4 runner if you look up on ratings of 4x4 off road SUV it does rate in the high catagory. I hate the fact that they lowered it for the 4th generation (which is a govt. thing because of bumper height restriction's and crash safety) , but it still can hold it's own over 95% of the modern day SUVs out there. As far as a maall hopper , you can lots of good 4x4's at the mall H2's & H3's included. Most SUV and truck never see any off road duty at all, and that percentage is about 95% also......I know you just given me chit so no matter and fun anyway going back and forth
Anyway 10 years from now when that H3 is in the scrap heap my 4R will still be crankin strong.....lol

Mine should bring more of a screwed feeling, but I enjoyed the abilities of it too much. I bought it used in '94. I was fresh from boot camp and School of Idiocy- I mean Infantry, young dumb and full of... cash. It was over priced, and I let the dealer talk to my loan officer at my credit union. The dealer told her that it had options that the vehicle didn't actually have, and this got the vehicle to be worth the asking price. 2 1/2 months later, my dad and I are going up the mountain to play in the snow. I hit black ice and totaled it out. After the insurance looked it over, I found out that they wouldn't pay off the whole loan because it was overpriced. I walked away with the remaining $5000 as an unsecured loan and no vehicle, and no way to get the dealership for false advartising because the VIN matched the paperwork and everything over the phone would be hearsay. It was a big learning experiance, but I got so much enjoyment out of the Jeep that I have always wanted one since.
Actually, when I bought the Hummer, I compared it to a Rubicon Unlimited to try and get the best apples to apples comparison between the two vehicles. There are some comprimises from one to the other, and the prices were within a couple hundred dollars for similar equipment, but the best overall bang for the buck came down to the Hummer. The basic creature comforts are superior with the Hummer, and when you compare the cost of aftermarket items to make the running gear equal, you are money ahead to get a locker for the front of the Hummer then to lift the Jeep and buy tires to get the same ground clearance under the axles.
I will always fondly remember my Jeep, but I can't see my future without my Hummer H3.

that sucks about your jeep bro, amazing how dumb we were when we were kids ain't it

My brother ordered a 2007 jeep unlimited rubicon 4 door, looks like a cool jeep, little shorter than the h3 but it is still a rubi. They have power windows and doors now too. When it comes in I'll post some pics of it..I'm excited to go wheeling with him to see how the two compare.

yea, alot of the die hard jeepers hate it cause they feel Jeep is selling out the wrangler line. Personally I think it's cool. I know a lot of ex jeepers that sold their wrangler for something they can take their kids in when they hit the trails. At least now they can have both, or if they are smart like us here...buy an H3
