Damn PCP's
Not that this is the place to gripe about this particlar topic, but since you're all my bro's and sis's, I'd figured you'd listen. Patient presents todaywith scapular pain that radiates into the upper extremity to the C6 dermatome, (thumb and index finger) and the primary care doc send this guy to PT for rotator cuff rehab. What a bozo!! It's clearly a true ridic, as oppossed to a pseudoridic facet imbrication. Only one thing causes that. space occ lesion!!. So we MR the dude and low a behold it's a C5/C6 cervical HNP!! Sorry to vent but this lack of diagnostic skill just ticks me off.[:@] P.S. If there are and family med doc's here. Sorry.
Why would someone with pain in their fingers need to go to rehab for their RC?
Was this guy just trying to get more money? Or is he clearly just a dumb **** making everyone's health care go up?
I bet the person is very happy they came to you.

I had to look the words up too at one time.
See but now you know what they are. I do that with patient's also. Most people truely are not stupid. So I use the medical words, but then explain to them what it means. I respect my patient's and I take the time to explain WTF is going on, but I don't belittle them with 5th grade english. So I use the correct terminolgy, but explain to them what it means. This empowers them, they understand more, I get better complience, and subsequently the get better results.
