custom headliner idea
Yea It isn't a perfect plan yet by any means but I am thinking something like a custom paint job that looks like any paint job on the outside of a car with airbrushed designs and such.
Even with only using one or two layers of mat, you'll still have to add quite a bit of filler to it in order to get it smoothed out. The headliner in the hummer is a long flat piece, and it will take a lot of quality work to get glass smooth enough to look good painted. That is where the majority of the weight will come from. Even if you had a vaccuum form mold you're still looking at a lot of work sanding, applying filler, sanding, applying filler, sanding, spraying with filler primer, sanding, spraying sealer primer, wet sanding, spraying paint, wet sanding, spraying clear, and then buffing. That's also assuming you have somewhere to spray it that is clean, dust free, and warm.
I do have somewhere I could doth work inside and warm with most all the tools I would need. But I am also thinking one of the three boat/fiberglass shops around here could do the glassing for me a lot faster and easier than I could. That is an option.
This is probably not a feasible idea, but after I get everything else done I want to do to it this will be looked at then. Just trying to get ideas in case there is an easier way I dont know about.
