As rediculous as hdoomed is I know what he is talking about as I have the same problem ... It is only when I turn the wheel or traveling at a low speed.. If the music is turned way upI wont hear it but if its down I really really hear it.. Any one know?????

Dennis: I will try this later when I get home and let you know tomorrow if that solved the problem. Why would one of the top GM service guys in the country that personally looked at my H3 NOT know this? He is supposedly one of 5 GM mechanics in the country that has like some top certs. I forgot what they call them. Those guys they fly around to difference places when nobody can figure out the problem. If these guys can't figure out that only WD40 needs to be sprayed on the torsion bars, maybe we ARE truely ALL DOOMED
WWWEEEELLLLLL............it was fixed for 30 minutes then I made a sharp turn with a bump involved and it's all over!!! I am not going to drive 70 miles again to get it fixed I will just turn up my radio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I experienced the same creaking as you guys are experiencing, but only after I had my torsion keys changed out to level my truck. It squeaked and creaked when the steering wheel was turned (parked or moving), backing up, applying the brakes in forward and reverse and especially when offroad.
Apparently the areas of the keys that were welded were scraping against the frame. I was actually able to see the paint scrapes made by the keys. These particular keys also cut into the nut as well. I changed my keys to the non-welded type and the noise is completely gone.
I have also experienced asmall amount of creaking when I turned my factory keys up too much.
No one mentioned if they had changed the keys or not, so this may not apply at all.

I got my H3 back today from replacing the head and for major friction / growling sound under driver floorboard during certain turning maunevers. Head was as expected, the growling noise took the tech a bit to figure out, ended up being left front upper frame cushion and left frame cushion popping, installed shims and no more awful sound. Oh yeah had to replace the horn also ..... Seems all is good now, mileage even seemed better too
Dennis, it came from there but I got 2nd hand at the local Chevy dealer in Hope. I always take back to Landers for work, either there or shreveport are my 2 closest choices, and the riverboats be calling my wifes name when we go down south .
Hey guys. I finally found the problem after a year of looking. The popping sound is coming from the sleeves, which hold the crossmember under the differential to the frame. To fix this problem, take the crossmember attached to the rear part of front differential and take the four bolts that bolt the crossmember to the frame and you will see four sleeves inside the crossmember which are loose. You have to weld them to the crossmember because the water and rust gets in there making the connection rot out. Weld the sleeves and put it back together and the noise will be gone! The sleeves in the crossmember hold the crossmember in place and when they become loose the noise travels from the front axles to the differential to the frame when you try to stop the vehicle. It took me 30 minutes to fix it, so good luck!!! Vlado
I also have the pictures so I can send to you.
