I'm looking at buying a 2002 H1 in Competition yellow and it has a few small cracks in the fiberglass around the headlight well. I was wondering how difficult those would be to repair and if repairing it would require the entire hood to be painted.

Those are typical stress cracks. The hood is big, heavy, flexes and it does crack. The cracks aren't hard to fix. I would guess that with the age of the paint that painting the entire hood would be the best way eliminate obvious paint shade differences.

 

Thanks for the info. I'm driving 7.5 hrs to look at it on Friday. Anything in particular I should be on the look out for when I see it? It only has 30k miles on it and from what I've seen in pictures underneath it, it appears to have never been offroad.

 

Send the VIN to Tustin or Lynch Hummer and let them get you a copy of the waaranty history. Look for service records. It should have had a 12,000 mile service at about 24K. Check everything and make sure it works. What town/state is the truck in. It is possible that there is an H1 onwer in the area that could look at the truck with you.
