I have a 06 with 57000 miles that has had the head replaced twice so for. Once at about 16000 miles and again at 28000 miles. It's been fine for a couple of years now, but 12/23 it started running real rough and the check engine light came on. I connected with OnStar who said it was a missfire code. Excact same thing that happened the last two times. I'll get it into the dealer soon but, this could be the end of the H3 as it's off warrenty now. And we just had to replace the wifes 04 Cadillac SRX due to $2100 in engine issues too (did not repair, just unloaded it). Totally not in the budget.

 

We've got around 80,000 miles on our replacement head and so far, so good.

I'm kind of wondering myself how future rebuilds will go. Are there even any good engine rebuilders out there with 5-cylinder GM engine experience? "Back in the Day" a rebuild was an opportunity to put the engine back together in better than factory new condition.

 

Wow sorry to hear that, this makes me sick though because the H3 is awesome and yet though a pain because of people who don't pay attention at their jobs.

 

Well, after sitting unused for 3 days the check engine light is no longer on. It's still running rough(er). I'll just wait till the light comes on again before doing anything. I just don't have the $ right now to do anything. If anything happens, I'll come back and update this.
