Computer swap or chip (tune)?
Predator has a core exchange deal with their computer. It's $600 off the bat and after receiving your stock computer they send you a $500 check soon after. My question comes in two-fold...
1) Does the computer swap do the same thing as the chip (tune is the term i've heard most referring to a chip)? Does it merely change things like timing, air/fuel mixture, etc?
2) Does the cpu self adjust to upgrades like the Volo VP12 stage 2 chip? If so will it help if i buy both or is one only necessary? My thoughts were that the cpu changes things for performance or MPG increase, but doesn't account for after market upgrades; where as, the volo chip is designed to accommodate for new upgrades down the road.
If anyone has any info to help me please bring it to my attention. Please don't post to advertise for PCM4less.com or their products, it won't receive a reply. I'm looking to purchase the cpu and the chip in 2 weeks if i find they both will work together for more power than one alone or if they work better with both items listed above. If not, I'll purchase the one that gives the most gains, assuming that it doesn't cause the most trouble for maintenance. Thanks again!

I don't have the PCM4Less tune, but I have considered it. Based on what I have heard from others on this forum, you can call PCM4Less and get honest information on what their PCM tune will and won't do. They won't try to feed you any BS.
AFAIK, the computer swap is just an option to do the tune without having to be down waiting for them to tune your PCM and send it back.

When at the Hummer dealership, I was talking to the mechanic about software upgrades to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). He informed me that, if they hook up a Hummer to their diagnostics machine, and it reads an altered PCM, it will immediately shut down, and prompt the mechanic to go through procedures to have the vehicle warranty voided! Something to think about!
That is definately something to consider Broken Halo! So if i swap the computer for the predator it's changing my PCM? My H3's got some mileage on her but i think she's still under warranty. I heard some guy on the forums talking about hiding his PCM upgrades some how? Maybe it's too much trouble... I should be able to sucessfully hide a chip shouldn't I? The Volo VP12 is hooked up at your bottom left foot where the wires are in an 07' H3. The company said their chip doesn't void/alter warranty in any way, shape, or form; So i hope their right. I think I'll give the Knoxville Hummer Garage a call. Thanks for the heads up Broken Halo.
