I'm going to be buying an H1 some where in the range of 98-02. I'm looking for some advice on common expensive problems I should keep my eye out for.

#8 cylinder issue in 97-2000 model years is the biggest issue. There are a number of wear issues if the maintenance hasn't been kept up with.

bought a 97, 70,000 miles....had it three months and the injector pump went out. replaced it and the PMD....went ahead and replaced the water pump with upgraded one and 180 thermostats......turbo passing oil, needed rebuild but found a crack in the hot housing...new turbo.........auxilary electric cooling fan upgrade and misc intake gaskets and other.....total job around 3500 in parts. I did all the work myself
