Climate control
Thats a bummer. I'm aware of the blend doors failing but (even on the GM trucks and SUV's) I'm not aware of widespread problems with the control panels themselves. In many years of having a GMC and now also a H2 I've seen hundreds upon hundreds of posts about blend doors but in 15 years only just a few on the controls and those are usually a light burned out or someone asking how to change them to some color LED lights.
You said above "What is the defect they are talking about?". Who and where is the defect being talked about that you mention?
I did just look in the GM Service Information System and I do not see any GM Bulletins having anything to do with that sort of a problem.
May or may not help but attached is a PDF with all of the GM service info for the automatic climate control system in 2003 and 2004 H2's. One thing I did see on the bulletins is that on 2003 and 2004 models the control panel is not programmable and attempting to write new software on one with a Tech2 may cause it to "prematurely lock up". Had no idea on that - I want to think I've updated the software on mine though. Not sure if the 05-07 panels are compatible but I'd guess they likely are.
The attached document literally has everything - including the schematics and what voltage or resistance should be at every pin and wire in the climate control system.

I cant remember on what thread it was but someone said something like they had a bad year for the climate controls in 03. I cant figure out for the life of me why this brand new unit worked since last Saturday when i installed it and it just stopped working when i got in my truck after work. It did work in the morning driving to work. ?????
That is bizarre. If that is the case I wonder if one of the pins in one of the plugs on the back of it might not fully be locked into the connector and only making intermittent contact with the pin in the panel? I've had that happen before on other things. Might also help to check on some of the GM truck forums since they are far more common and other might have had the same issues. The high level trim GM trucks and SUV's use essentially the exact same system.
So this morning i took a ride still with no climate control and when i came back i pulled all fuses again and all were good. I plugged my OBD reader in to see if there were any codes and when I turned the ignition on to read the codes the climate control suddenly came back to life. Well thank god the new one didnt get fried so now i just have to figure out why it went blank on me for all these days? Knowing this one came back to life would only mean that the original climate control is still good. Wish me luck on this search.
