Default Check Engine Light

So my check engine light came on today and the H2 is coming up with 2 codes:

P0172 and P0175: System too Rich

Can anyone tell me what this means and what may have caused this? No changes to anything on the truck recently and it drivers/performs normally. Its a 2008

Any help appreciated

mgutgone: Yep, you have the correct description of the codes.
P0172 - Fuel Injection System Too Rich Bank 1
P0175 - Fuel Injection System Too Rich Bank 2

Have you had your H2 serviced lately? Did they check the air cleaner?
Possible causes- Intake air leaks
- Mass air flow sensor may be faulty
- Incorrect PCV hose connec

Possible solutions:
Dirty air filter of faulty air flow sensor are common causes of the problem.

Hope this helps! If you are still under warranty and you are unable to find the air leak take it in and report back to us on the fix.

PLEASE, come back and let us know what fixed the problem so others that may have the same issue with their H2s and are Not under warranty know what needs to be done. That is how this forum works. If you find out some info on a repair post it up for others to use in the future. I'm sure your help will come back to you at least 2 fold.

Tainter: Thanks for the suggestions. I did check the air filter and MAF sensor. The filter was good, but the sensor had some debris and dirt on the screen that protects the sensors.

I cleaned off the debris and so far so good. if it happens again the next step will be to replace the MAF sensor.

Lets hope the debris was causing the sensor to get a bad reading

Thanks!!!

Make sure you put everything back together without any air leaks. That is one of the major causes of codes like this. You may also want to get some MAF ONLY cleaner (not brake or carb cleaner) and spray it down really well.

Glad to help a fellow HUMMER owner anytime! Esp, when Peggy tells them to go to the stealership and get hosed @ over $100 per hour labor!
