Changed plugs

Hey all

Just got my 06 H3 about 2 weeks ago and today was the first chance I had to tear into it. It's got the Luxury/adventure pkg with 97k miles. I think I did pretty good on my first Hummer purchase! It's idled a little rough since I got it, so today I did some basic maintenance.

Changed the plugs- NGK IX Iridium (4344)
Cleaned the MAF
Cleaned the Throttle body

Air filter was new so it didn't get changed and the oil was recently changed and looks pretty clean. That took about 75% of the rough idle away but I found a coil pack that had a bunch of corrosion on it. I don't have any codes or a CEL but maybe that pack is running half assed??

I've seen where some people clean the screens on the VVT solenoid valve but I'm not sure exactly where it is. Could someone point me in the right direction?

I would plan on loosing the NGKs soon and putting AC Delcos back in. Search this out, the I5s have a very high intensity coil on plug pack ignition that eat up aftermarket plugs.... like within 10-12K miles. I also make a point of avoiding Japanese plugs. ;)

Loads of info on people trying E3s, multiple electrode iridiums, platinum such and such, etc... and all of them get toasted.

The only two that hold up are the OEM AC Delcos and their Champion counter part, and I would only use the Champions if for some reason the AC Delcos are not available, which basically should be never.

Yep, stick with the Delco Iridiums, as stock.

When I swapped plugs on my old H3 they still almost looked new at 100k miles. I even considered for a second regapping and running them again for another 100k.

Mine weren't in good shape and the ceramic broke on one of them. That one also had a very corroded coil pack. Looked like water leaked in, possibly from the crappy hood ornament mounted right above it. It's been raining all day here so tomorrow I plan on popping the hood to see if water leaked in and if so I'm going to rtv all those holes up where it attaches.
