Default Center Caps & Touchless Car Wash

Ever have one come off? This happened to me yesterday. I was lucky enough to retrieve it undamaged. I will be taking them off prior to washing from now on!

Happened to me too. Only one came off one time. Now I check them before I drive away. Luckily I got the other one back without anyone driving over it.

I have been through car washes numerous times and it hasn't happend to me yet. I guess I have been lucky. I do know that the hood scoop will fly off when a Volkswagen Beetle pulls across the road in front of you and you hit it at 40 MPH. Ouch!!

You must have jinxed me. I just happened to me again. Same place, same tire. Luckily they found it still intact.

Can you guys clarify how this happening? I am not an H3 owner yet and still lurking, but I use those washes regularly and would be pissed if I lost a center cap!

Is the side wash enough pressure to knock them off? Depending on how the wheel is sitting in rotation?

Are you guys planning on removing them before going in?

It must be based on the tire position, but it's only happened to me twice on probably 50 car washes and it was the same tire in the same carwash both times which seems like it's more than a coincidence. It would probably be easier to take them off ahead of time since they come off pretty easily with no tools. As long as you're aware that it can happen, it's no big deal.

This was only my second wash. I will definitely be taking them off prior to each wash. The one I go to blasts the wheels and under carriage as you drive in. This is when it happened.
