Default CB Radio Install - Switched 12v Power Source?

Hi Folks,

I tried searching around for the answer, but the search feature excludes the term "cb" (too short) so all I get is aftermarket headunit info.

I'd like to install my CB either under the driver's seat or in the center console (going stealth as best I can). Is there a switched 12v power source anywhere around there? Where is the best / closest wire that I can tap?

I'd be interested in hearing your ideas for mounting location also; again, tried searching, but in the couple threads I did find the pics were all dead.

Thanks!

I used the wire for the aux port/ cigarette lighter... it stays hot all the time, which is go when your out on the trail, the truck doesnt have to be running to use it... you never know what might happen... You just have to remember to turn it off at night

Scott another dilema you may run into is that the center console is not very deep outside of the radio or the console box... I know some guys have gone aftermarket on radios and but cb's above or below the head unit... some came out ok, others did not. I personally wouldnt want a cb inside the console compartment... not enough storage as is... mine is just to the side of the center console attached to the glove box lid...

I ran the power and ground to the battery, you'll get interference with a CB if you "tap" another line. Nice to be able to turn it on even with the key out. i sometimes leave mine on by accident, but I have an optima battery and leaving it on all day hardly draws down the voltage.
