When you consider that the 505 HP ZR-1 Corvette will get mid twenties on the highway I have high hope for technology keeping us in Hummers for awhile to come. GM could help the MPG considerably if they would offer a 2wd transfer case capability instead of the AWD.

Hummers will be fine, just like all those pickup trucks out there that get like 10 mpg. Does anyone else hae a problem that it's only in the USA that we have these standards, the rest of the world doesn't even use Cat. Converters.

Hummers aren't going away as long as people still like suvs and wont compromise commfort and safet for fuel mileage, and new diesel versions of the H2 and H3 are coming soon and they should be able to improve gas mileage by quite a bit...a long time ago many people said Ford was going away but it didnt and it adapted to the new market justlike GM did

It will just make the ones that we already have more unique They will be fine, You can't tell America with all the farmers with big trucks and as big a money business that off-roading is that they have to get rid of their trucks. I'd like to see them come into farm land or in the back woods and tell any of those guys they can't have their "toys" anymore. IF they can't make it meet those standards they will amend the law when it comes time. Too much money at risk not to.
