Hello everyone,

I was wondering if H3 chrome parts can be painted? ie. mirrors, grille, door handles etc. Has anyone done this?

The reason I am asking is that I am looking to buy a H3 very soon (just can't find anything suitable at the moment) and am not a big fan of all the chrome parts. I know they can be swapped out with oem black ones but would like to have ones that are painted to match colour of the H3.

Haven't had a chance to talk to a body shop about this so I thought i would ask on here. Thanks!

 

A lot of people have painted their chrome parts.
It's all in the preparation & good primer.

 

i have tried before and it takes a lot of prep and very good paint. i would not really recommend it if you have the money to buy the oem black ones.

 

Yes, it can be done, but as already mentioned good prep work & good etching primer is required.. J

 

The mirrors and grill can be done no problem. The handles will have to be swapped with oem due to the nature of the part. Because handles are constanly being moved and touched by hands (oils on hands) the paint would not stay on the best. When I blacked out my h3 I took all of my other parts to the local body shop and had them done, it is professional and PERFECT. I would recommned doing this, dont try to rattle can them.

 

TShepp, I know all shops are different but I can I ask what you paid?

 

I got a "hook-up" kind of and paid $200 bucks: Painted side markers, Mirror covers, Front Grill, Smoked Taillights, Smoked Front Lenses.
