I'm getting ready to purchase my 3rd chrome gas door locking cover for H2...last 2 were plated aluminum which turns to rust!...all my other brightwork was polished stainless, is there anything good available or nothing but s#@!.?

 

The factory ones are pretty darn good.

You are not going to get them for anywhere near the cost of the crappy imported Chinese ones though.

If something was rusting on the ones you had then it was not aluminum. Aluminum can get corrosion but it cannot rust. Also for what its worth, about the only thing that might be polished stainless steel would be step bars. Nothing else can really be easily made from stainless steel in any sort of reasonable manner or cost. Most everything else is cast or billet aluminum and then either polished and clear coated or chrome plated (cannot rust). Most of the cheaper chrome bits found online are plastic which has been chromed (also cannot rust).
