Call me crazy, but...
I picked up some polished 16" American Racing Atlas wheels on craigslist for a cheap price. I have always liked the wheel and the offset it has so I bought them. They have a 0 offset so they stick out about an inch further than stock and will look mean when I crank my t bars and slap on some 33's or 35's when it's time to replace my tires.

Anyhow, the rear hub on the new wheel would not fit on without a 1/4 spacer, but the bolts weren't long enough for the lugs to tighten saefly so I took them off. I dropped the wheels off with a well known machinist and he's going to bore out the inside of the wheels to make them fit on the truck. Has anyone else ever done this? I really liked the wheels and spent too much time polishing them up to just sell them. I really liked the way they look on the truck. The inside of the wheel has what looks like a 1/4" spacer welded on it and he's going to bore out the hole so it will mount flush on the truck and the lugs will have a good hold.

You are a crazy but
I just wanted to say, in some states, and Ontario, when your tires extend more than 1" beyond the outside of your fender you are due for a ticket. Just saw a guy talking to a State Trooper on the I-94 shoulder east of Detroit in a Chevy PU with tires at least 2" (maybe more?) outside the fenders. Just an FYI for others. Carry on, good luck and enjoy!
With the stock wheels 305s and 315s are just about at that 1" mark.

It has to do with water spray. The government stiffs who write laws think that when its wet the water spray from your tires impeeds yours and others safty.

Be careful if you go through UT. I got a fix-it ticket for that in my Cherokee, had to put mud flaps on the rear. Tore one off wheeling one weekend, and was pulled over for it a couple days later. Around here the issue is kicking up rocks from all the road construction, at least that's what the cop told me. Makes sense, In the last year I've replaced the windshield on two of our vehicles, and both of them again have big nasty chips.
