I would have to say from my point of view and reference that your experiences do not necessarily represent H3 ownership,
Gfs H3 we've had to repair allot.
My H3 less but enough.
We're talking radiators, hubs, upper and mid steering shafts, brakes, rotors, actuators, C.O.P, glove box latch, passenger electronics, tires, shocks, evaporated system, etc.

If the sampling of threads I see here are even a slight indicator this is fairly standard.

By contrast my Suzuki I had for 14 years was quite a bit less stuff.... May be the same but stretched over 14 years not 3-4.

 

People post up when they have issues. People rarely post that they have nothing to post about. Most people I know with 08 and newer trucks have had great experiences and not much go wrong. Obviously you have had a different experience but a lot of us have not had your issues. We are on the original radiator and virtually every other major component. The truck has seen its share of wheeling also. It has been one of the most dependable vehicles we have ever had and that included high end European imports.

 

my rad is first real problem,BUT the choice is i drive a hummer that i can easily see in the walmart parking lot,,,or just another same old dumb looking car.

hummer , still like nothing else so ill hang on till the bitter end if necessary!!!

My best friend bout both of his sons H3s when they turned 16. Both are A students with good heads on their shoulders and respect their elders. One is graduating from Michigan and the other is at MSU on the track team.

They are safe in almost any weather and don't "go fast".

 

I bought my 2007 H3 with 58K on it, it now has 78K. I have replaced the radiator because it cracked at the top and was leaking, front hubs due to grinding, rear pumpkin seal due to leaking, and battery terminals because after 3 days of sitting my battery would go dead. I have had to fix the rear windshield wiper fluid line due to it being kinked at the door hinge and leaking. I have just completed the throttle body cleaning due to the near stalling issue. I also had to take off the appearance lights and install the "fix" to eliminate the wind noise and while I was at it I did the sunroof drain tubes. Most of these are common issues with many H3s. I still have two issues to resolve, a bad TPMS sensor that stopped working last week and a rear window defroster that only seems to work on the top portion of the window.
Before this I owned a 2008 Honda Element EX AWD. That was a gas and go vehicle for 128K miles and my son now has it and it has over 150K, still no issues other than routine maintenance. That is an extremely safe vehicle, great in all types of weather including the snow.

 

Brakes, rotors, tires and shocks are not repairs, they are maintenance items. They wear out on all vehicles as the miles get put on.

 

Granted, I wouldn't expect to have the radiator or hub issues at those miles, but the other stuff is regular stuff that could happen to any vehicle. I personally think the H3 is a great vehicle up to about 100-125k miles and then you need to get busy with preventative maintenance.

 

Bro, I ain't jealous ... But you have a valid point a teenager rich kid is better off in H3 than a Porsche or say a Corvette.
