Bridges
I actually saw something on Discovery Channel about that third picture. Not that I remember much on it except that it was build that way for ships to cross over and I can't remember the reason why they couldn't build it up.
My daily commute includes a bridge that is 200 feet about the water at its highest point.

But thats nothing compared to the Millau Viaduct in France. 800 feet above ground at its highest point!

I accidently went into the far ez-pass lane on the Chesapeake Bay bridge.... during rush hour they make it 4 lanes... 3 and then one of the other 3 on the opposite side... so... you are on the opposite side facing traffic at 65mph+
not exactly a roundabout, but the 3rd highest in the country. about a 40 minute drive from my house - was supposed to span a lake, but the dam never got built - now just goes over the north fork of the American River.
