A snow tip for the 3:
When on road, and just slick/ice or say less than 2" or so, us AWD.
More than 4" or drifting, still on road, 4hi lock.
When really deep and/or rutty, and when off road in the white stuff, 4hi lock andturn off the StabiliTrack.

I read in the book that you shouldn't exceed 30 mph in 4 lo lock, but there is nothing there about 4 hi lock and speed. Some areas are not as bad as others, so you can go faster. Is there a limit to how fast you should go in 4 hi lock?

Doc, thanks for the driving tips!

Thanks for the comments guys - we got more snow today, but the roads are well sanded and salted AND the snow turned into ice pellets and then it's now raining. It is quite ugly on the roads - nothing the H3 couldn't handle but I'm happier to be sitting at home :-p

Tomorrow's gonna be an interesting commute with people spinning out of control due to a bit of icing....

Another pic from the Boston area, I'm about 45min north in NH. We got 18" today. Going skiing tomorrow for sure.

We had 10" this weekend. Went up a steep side street that was mostly
3' drifts and didn't slip at all. Never had to lock it in all weekend.
Even slipped off the highway to see how the ditch was out by my office.

Awesomethat your getting himsome experience under his belt, but teaching him a very capable vehicle is cheating...

Try to teach him with a ill handling, 2wd pick-up (with no weight in the bed). My old man tought me in a VW bus, but after a few years, Inow understand why he didn't teach me in his Scout.
