Installed the Costar bluetooth unit on top of my onstar unit. didnt even need to take it out. Works great and the email tech support has reallt been great. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to quit paying onstar every month!!!!

 

I have a 2010 w/the bluetooth and onstar. I am in my free trial of onstar right now. So if I stop paying for onstar my bluetooth stops working?

That is correct. Onstar offers alot of safety and additional features, but if you only want to be able to go handsfree then you will need this box for bluetooth useage without onstar. GM really screwed the 2010 owners into onstar only

 

Heh, I may be wrong. The 2010 may offer both. Mine is a 2008 and somewhere I read 2010 offered both. Let it expire and you will know for sure

 

You don't need a subscription to On star to retain the Blue-tooth features in your 2010. The functionality is in the same box but separate from the On star service. I Found and purchased the VCIM with blue tooth for my 08 alpha and have both in my 08. Every time I call to cancel on star they lower the price and throw in more free minutes i am down to 9.00 a month right now.
