good paint=good prep

search for painting, wheels,(rims) they call them, its been done here.
success is in prep and good material.

used black bumper spray paint on my faux chrome grill and it looks great. I put on a couple new coats every 4-6 months to cover up any of the small rock/gravel chips that expose the chrome. very simple fix to give the front end a more rugged look.

BLACK spray paint is fine my h1 is all black they are right sucess is in the prep. i did my rims bumpers grill and door handles. it looks outstanding. and the paint is holding up verry well. the only thing you need to watch out for is, if you paint your rims like i did be extreamly carefull when you install the lug nuts make sure the impact socket doesnt damage the new paint good luck with your project

thank u SEXTON, just wondering what kinda paint you did use? im still looking at different kinds just cant make up my mind yet

Duplicolor wheel paint really strong holds up to chips a lot stronger than most

drtom 02-21-2011 11:07 PM

torq,no,no

make sure the impact socket doesnt damage
,,your wheels!

i dont frequent tire shops much but i take my torq wrench and socket in with me when i do.
i never allow any impact tools on any wheels, specially aluminum/mag.
