Bad compression on cylinder 4
I own two H3's, a 2006 (I purchased new) and a 2008 (I just purchased from CarMax 30-days ago). My 2006 has been running great and now has 123,000 without any issues. I picked up the 2008 a few weeks ago and it ran fine for over three weeks. Just before the CarMax 30-day warranty was up, I started to get a very rough idle. I took it back to CarMax for service and they changed the coil packs and the spark plugs. That did not help so they took the H3 to the local GM/GMC dealership. The dealership diagnosed the issue with cylinder 4 and said the car needed a new head. They quoted $6,000 to do the repair. Amazingly, CarMax gave them the green light to go ahead and fix my vehicle. The dealer gives a 12,000 mile or 12-month warranty on the repair. I am pretty impressed with CarMax and I am sure that a lot of other used car dealerships would have stuck it to me in a big way. Hopefully, the new cylinder head that the GM dealer installs will have the hardened valve seats. I am not affiliated with CarMax in any way. I just think that when some business does the RIGHT thing, others should know about it.
