Default Backup Camera

Gang

Did anyone put on a backup Camera?

With the H3x it's impossible to see behind that Fiberglass Spare holder.

Also anyone using the Nav to view the remote Camera?

Ian,

There are three of four very informative threads on the topic, including discussions on backup sensors vs. cameras. I went the sensor route with four flush sensors in my rear bumper. Very inexpensive and an intermediate 2 hourDIY project. Others have used sensors that mount as a receiver in the tow hitch. (Very good option with instantsatisfaction.) ...and still others have gone with video cams. If you go the camera route, I would highly recommend a hardwired system (as opposed to wireless). Search on 'backup' and you'll find the threads. You'll see pics of different installs.

I put one on last weekend. Bought it from Corstco for $80! It the VR3 wirless model. Mounted the camera to the license plate. The monitor plugs into the plug in front. I haven't decided where to permently mount it yet. I may end up hardwiring it so I can mount it by the visor and not a a wire hanging across the dash. Or I may make some type of hinge for it so I can fold it up and down and put it on the steering column. Not sure yet what I want to do with it. Any suggestions?

HMBill could you post a pic? I have been looking for one but after installing the rear bumper guard I can no longer use the hitch to mount one there. Thanks.

I had a vizualogic camera installed under the spare tire cover, over the step in the rear bumper. The screen is attatched to the windshield next to my rear view mirror. Works great. Paid about $300 installed

I like the idea of the spare tire mount. I have the lux package with the fiberglass cover. I like the elevated view to monitor traffic. I don't plan to use it exclusively for back-up. I wonder how long the camera batteries will last with them on most of the time? Ragz you gotta pic of your installation?
