Hi guys,

Had an interesting problem today with my H3.
Got in, turned the key, it backfired then just kept cranking but no start.
Can't say my foot hit the petal or not when I cranked it.
Waited for about 15 minutes and it started like no problem.
Question....never happened before. Could my maybe pressing the petal before cranking cause the backfiring.
Being 73, I grew up with carbs, and know about them, but not familiar with these engines.
What do you all think?

Sorta is to me. We take the H3 on some dirt trails here in AZ and can be maybe 10 miles out in the desert. Don't wanna have to hoof it back to civilization if I don't have to!

 

With a drive by wire system hitting the pedal before starting shouldn't do a thing.

Not sure why it would back fire though.

 

Your PCM had a brain fart. If it starts correctly the next 10-20 times, it may never happen again ever..... no biggy.
