Nope. The steering wheel only adjust up and down. A telescoping wheel would have been nice.

I think I figured it out this morning. Since have a stick, I'm constantly shifting and I noticed that when I extend my leg to shift, my left hip moves down and my right moves up, so I'm figuring that's causing my back to twist up all the time. What I did was raise the wheel up as high as it goes, and pushed my seat up as far as I could go without my knees hitting the steering wheel. Now when I step on the clutch pedal, my hips don't twist anymore. I did that for just 20 minutes this morning on the way to work after my back started to hurt and it seems like the pain started going away. By the time I got to work, I wasn't feeling that twisting feeling anymore. I'm going to try to find a heated back pad and hardwire it into my power so I can turn it on and off with a switch, and hopefully that and re-adjusting the seat will solve the problem.

Does the luxury package have a steering column that pulls closer towards you? I really need that. I wonder if I can have that swapped out.
having such a back problem why would you not have bought the auto instead?????

It never bothered me that much to be honest. I don't technically have back problems. It only happens in this H3. I had a Scion xB before this and never had issues, but you are pretty much sitting on a normal chair in that thing, so I never had to worry about it.

A standard is more fun too! I like the automatic just fine, but if I had to do it over I would have gotten the standard. Ironically, the main reason I went with the auto was because of the stabilitrac, as safety was a concern for us. It was not until after I picked up the truck that I read the '07 (unlike previous years) could also get stabilitac with the standard. D'oh!

Ain't that the truth, would love to be able to bring it closer.

Well, after sitting closer to the dash this morning, I wasn't feeling too much discomfort, but then again, I wasn't shifting much either. It wasn't stop and go like before. I'll just have to wait and see.

I like standard transmissions in sports cars, but not suvs. I couldn't imagine driving a manual Hummer.

It's pretty damn cool to be honest. As much as I like the hassle-free operation of the H3 Auto, I would never get one. You have so much more control from every aspect of it then you do with the auto. Plus, my manual '06 is just as fast, if not faster, then the '07 H3 auto. I would say they are neck and neck.

I agree with Hummerguy, Most of my vehicles have been automatics, which I enjoy, but some of my sports cars were standards, and they were more fun to drive. I find with the gearing ratios and engine power in the H3, I keep grabbin the shifter wishing I had a standard. even though you can shift gears on the auto, is not the same. I will admint though in the snow when trying to get around, the automatic is probably easier to drive than a standard would be.

Actually, I doubt it. Reason being, I can easily take it out of gear and let it coast in neutral on the ice, and it will still stick to the ground, where-as an automatic may get a little goofy sometimes. I've driven both on ice, and I'll tell you, the stick is WAY better when it comes to control
