Axle seal leaking
I found the drivers side front axle seal leaking on Friday, by Sat it was much worse so I replaced it this morning. It wasn't that bad of a job first time doing it only took me about an 1.5 start to finish, I got the new seal at NAPA they had them in stock part number 15691 $12.03 for the seal. From what I have read, I guess it is common they go bad, so I bought a spare.

Just had mine done under warranty. If you only replaced the seal, you may being doing another replacement sooner than you'd think. Dealership also replaced the axle and said this is a common problem. The axle develops rust and or grooves, and this is what causes seal failure.

How do you guys see these leaks...does it reach the garage floor? I'm not always looking under at the front end when its 20F out:rolleyes:

I saw it first on garage floor then looked underneath that side and saw it. I saw the axle and cleaned it the best I could with scotch brite pad on my high speed bur grinder, then I used some emery paper to clean it up better. I was thinking the same thing, when I put it back together.
