Default Axle leak. Seals or cv?

I have a 2007 H3 with 105,xxx miles and I have a leak coming from my drivers side cv half shaft, but my question is how do you know if its your cv half shaft, boot, or seal that just needs to be replaced? also can someone give me the part # for the seal where your driveshaft goes into the front?

If it was the boot (which is not fluid filled) it would be torn or dry rotted and you could see the problem after you clean it. Drop the fron splash guard and take it to a spray wash, soak it with degreaser then power wash it clean with soap and rinse. Then you could see what is going on.

Have you recently changed the front differential fluid? Number one reason for that to be happening..... somebody overfilled the front diff.

The thing about... I could give you a fish... or teach you how to fish and you could catch your own.. Get it. Ain't none of this rocket science.

Google "H3 Hummer Front differential seal" and see what happens.

You appear to have two things going on, the driver side front Wheel Bearing Seal #13, and the Pinion Shaft Bearing Seal #4.

I just ordered the seals, should I order the half shaft too? how would you know the half shaft needs to be replaced? I don't hear any "clicking" when I turn.

TIP: When inserting the half shaft back into the diff be VERY CAREFUL not to damage the seal. The splines on the shaft are SHARP!

PLEASE buy the Kent Moore Axle Seal Protector, Part# J-44394. You only need one but it will save you time not replacing a new seal because it got damaged during install.
If you where close I would give you a few.

The Half shaft is up to you, but if you decide to go that route use only ACDelco shafts, cheap is cheap for a reason.

I would check the fluid level before replacing any seal. Clean it up like I said above before you start any work in the area.
