Australian H3 purchase
Hi all!
I live in Australia and have just put down a deposit on a 2008 H3 petrol with 16 inch alloy wheels, supercharger and 95,000km (around 50k miles) on the clock.
Aussies tend to criticize what they know little about. I have been slammed by friends for my choice in wheels...Is this ignorance or is the H3 a problematic car? Fuel? Reliability on and off road?
There are few H3 communities this side of the planet and only about 60 Hummers in Western Australia.
What are your thoughts please?
Rob

Welcome to HF.
Your 2008 H3 should be fine, with the right tires and undercarriage/rock rail protection, it can wheel with anything.
However, why the supercharger? .... I mean I get it that there are no S African built V8 H3s in OZ, but depending upon which SC and how it was done, that may be your biggest problem long term.
Enjoy the forums.

Hi Doc and Gunner.
I don't intend to go off road much at all, or if any, it would be beach drives only. I am unsure of the Supercharger brand however I have attached some pics. (Not mechanically minded whatsoever!)
Inspired by the size, safety, look and general awesomeness of the Hummer H3. Looking at starting a family this year and we also foster greyhounds so the trunk space = great!
My only concern despite criticism from the 'unqualified' colleagues at work is the prospective fuel consumption. We pay around a dollar per liter here and the tank is 87 liters. Web sites claim it drives with around the consumption of 14.5L/100 KM (around 60 miles for every 14.5 liters)
Why would the supercharger possibly be a drama later Doc? Can it be removed if necessary? It was an after market addition by GM here in Australia, I believe.
Gunner, it is a black truck and a red SC.

Who was the guy in OZ with the lifted yellow SC H3?
How's things in N TX?

My concern with the SC long term is, abuse by driver, and durability of install and programming. Usually is the case where stabbing the throttle is fun, so it gets done a lot, probably more than normal?
You can break a front diff or half shaft w/o the extra boost of a SC, add that to too much skinny pedal off road, and stuff is bound to break. The H3 is pretty heavy, be sure to change your Trans and T Case fluids with that SC.
Looks like it would fair better as a road machine and beachcomber.

It went for 35k AUD. 2007 Hummer H3 Luxury Auto 4x4
Haha a skippy mark like a kangaroo? Nah plain Jane black will do for me. I just had the finance approved for the beast and picking it up this evening.
By the way: I bought a 670 battery for it. The pic above of the engine shows a small air cord going in to the existing battery. The new battery fails to have one of those. Any idea of the cable's / chord's significance or importance? The new battery has six small vents in the rear of the battery.
