Happythree,

In your thread titled "new OEM radio programming" I mentioned how I installed an aux input, for less than 5 dollars, with excellent audio quality. I sent you the video that I followed. I am an electrical rookie, and this was a cake walk for me.

thanks much. the vid was hard to watch but i assume you made it so when you unplug the jack it goes back to normal right?
i dont care if i kill the sat radio so i may just cut/splice 3 wires.

It won't kill the Sat radio. Once you unplug music device it resumes Sat radio.

The video does suck, I used a website that helped break it down. Basically a 3.5mm aux connector from radio shack, and a cat5 Ethernet (internet) cord is all you need.

Use three strands from the Ethernet cord, attach to aux connector as instructed, then remove the glove box. Then remove Sat radio plug and splice into correct wires as indicated on film. Turn on radio, switch to Sat radio (Use radio id channel), plug in a mp3 device and test it out. If it works, solder, shrink wrap and all the other finishing touches.

I cannot find the original website I used, but this seems spot on. Like I mentioned before, I only used three wires, by wiring 2 to 3 and 4 to 5 on the aux connector. When I tried putting a wire to each loop, I didn't get sound from every speaker.

im thinking of cutting the l/r sat audio lines and just putting a jack on those 2 wires with a ground sheild sand forget sat.

do wish i could get some mating conn and do it a little neater!
