$90???? Crud... I'd fork up $90 for the piece of mind even if the factory wouldn't cover it. I don't do a lot of wheelin compared to highway and street mileage but I do go off road and I better not break a frikkin transfer case cause it was cast aluminum and failed whereas a cast iron one would not fail.
I promise you if you get stranded deep in the bush or rocks, it's gonna be a lot more than $90 to get your poor **** out and repaired.
Can anyone tell me where the $90 price comes from or is this just a guesstimate? Can we on our own get updated transfer cases?? Any idea what a dealer would charge to upgrade it. Will the dealer let you buy a stronger cast iron one for a non Alpha H3?
I'm guessing it won't be $90. Probably closer to $500.00.

I believe the $90.00 is tagged on the Alpha for that Iron front diff. Obviously in production, the exact same labor gos into the equation, it is only the PART price difference. For an I5 to get it done now, it is a complete R & R of the front axels and diff, and I am only assuming (safe I think) that the same gears/shafts would go back in to complete the swap. Laborwithout the part at this point would be at least $400 - $800.00. Anybody want to call a Hummer dealer and see what the iron diff itself costs over the parts counter??? Yikes!
HummerMike, if ya see this, can you check that part, and is it even available yet?

Also that was a very good written letter. Did you let them know that the letter was posted on several Hummer forums?

I am thinking you are meaning front DIFF????? Most transfer cases are made from Aluminum as well as transmissions.
