It appears Rockcrusher is out of stock of their cover for another 2 months...

Something else even more interesting I found is Riddler. Their covers are made from cast iron and look impenetrable. They also have no flange to get hung up on. They don't make any for our rear diff at this time but I contacted them and they will be releasing a cover for our diffs this summer. For those of you that want a really heavy duty cover at a reasonable price, I'd wait till the summer. http://www.riddlermfg.com/

"Darren,

Yes, the GM 10 bolt will be the next cover to be released
It should be available this summer, check the website for the release

Thanks,

Yep, heard that two years ago, and has no fill plug.

Rear diff cover photos. The flange is a full 1" think, should stand up to some abuse even though it's aluminum.

Hey guys,
Heytts, the moser cover looks nice on your truck.
Question... If a diff cover is being advertised as fitting a GM 10 bolt 8.2"/8.5" diff, will it fit on the H3? More specifically I guess I'm asking if this specific one will fit on our trucks:
Trick Flow Specialties TFS-8510300 - Trick Flow® Differential Covers - Overview - SummitRacing.com
The description also says it won't fit BOP axles... which I must admit I have no idea what that means.
Also, is it bad if the diff is overfilled with oil a little bit. Like Doc was saying about the Moser cover having the fill too high... say if the new gear oil wasn't measured properly and the diff was overfilled, could that damage the the diff internally?
Sorry for being a bit of newbie in the world of differentials/axles.
Thanks, Justin

I'm pretty sure you'll be safe with that cover, looks like the same set-up as mine. Generally any 10 bolt GM 8.5 will fit as long as it has a fill plug. You want to make sure you fill to the correct level. A little overfill isn't all that bad but if you get too much in it can result in higher air pressure inside the rear diff when the fluid heats up and it will cause seal leaks.

Thanks for the info Darren. I'm prolly either going to get that one or the moser that you got. Looking at the Trick Flow one I was considering, I'm now thinking that the fill plug may be too low and not allow the diff to be filled with the required amount. I'm just thinking this judging on where the fill plug is in the pics between that one compared with yours, the stock, & the PML one.
Let me ask, is the drain plug in your Moser magnetic?
Thanks again,
-Justin

I'll have to check if it's magnetic tomorrow. Just FYI if you get the Moser one you'll have to buy some new bolts. The ones that come with are not the correct thread for our hummer, you'll need metric. I'll double check what size you need and I would suggest finding some stainless ones as the black Allen type ones I got are rusting already. Theres also one bolt that's holding the brake lines that has to be about 1/4" longer than the rest.

I put the purple cranium one on my H3. Works great!

M8 x 1.25 is the thread you need for those bolts(9 bolts at 1 3/4" long and 1 bolt at 2" long). The drain plug isn't magnetic. Could always be solved by replacing it with a magnetic one or just putting one of those neodymium magnets on the outside of it once its all bolted up.
