I have a 2002 H1 open top, with only one problem. The 6.5 turbo stops some times like someone turned the key off. It starts right up again, but it is driving me crazy. I removed the batteries and cables, cleaned and sanded all connections. I removed all connections off the starter and cleaned and sanded those connections also. The only things I didn't like was the ground to the engine intake area is a little weak. and the starter connecton was a little worn. All is tight and the interval of shut off is much more less frequent. However has happened again twice since. Has anyone had anything similar or any ideas of what it would take to shut a running 6.5 with 35k, without a sputter, just off and start right up again. Another thing is this only happens while moving and shaking, never while still or smooth. Thank You for your help and Ideas.

sounds like the cam sensor in the injection pump. normally when that starts to go out the ecm thinks the engine is shut off and shuts the fuel pump solenoid off. when you crank it back up again it will restart like nothing happened and when it shuts off it is like someone reached over and turned the key. i have found that if a PMD causes the problem in most cases, the engine would have to cool down to be re started.

 

Read right over the starts right up again part. Mike is absolutely right about that.
