My wife and I are planning on going there for our first leg of our Memorial Day trip. I have never been there. Does anybody have any hotel recommendations or just a nice place to stay in general? I don't want to spend a fortune on hotels but I don't know the area so I'm not sure what's nice and what isn't.

 

I was there back in 1998, they do have a nice Peabodyhotel there. It's the one where the ducks come down the elevator and waddle thru the lobby. You have to go to Beale Street, great place for live Blues music. Also, if your an Elvis fan they have a statue and a restaurant there. If you want cheap stay at the Days Inn the pool is shaped like a guitar and they run Elvis movies 24 hours a day.We went to the Elvis muesuem and Graceland.
You sure are taking the long way to get to Rausch Creek on Sunday.

 

Damn skippy. My wife has never seen the Smokey Mountains, nor any mountains with vegetation. I want her to see that there are more to mountains then barren wasteland

Go online and look at window pics. Save the price of the book.

 

You could always use Google Earth to show her the sights. And I can bring pictures of Gracleand with me to Rausch Creek.
