For the third time I have come out to start my truck it clicks once, and goes dead. My key gets locked in the ignition, and the truck won't start. No lights, nothing. I then have to jiggle (not remove) the battery cable. The terminals are all clean. I am thinking I have an electrical issue. I was going to get a new key cut at the dealership. But not sure?

I am concerned because I don't have to completely disconnect the battery cable, just jiggling it makes it unlock the key.

My buddy suggested it might be the anti-theft system kicking in because of a dirty key, or the battery, but it is from 2/11. I have not had the alternator checked either. Could it be the relays? I have had this less than 30 days..

 

Just went and checked the terminals.. It looks as if someone has repeatedly taken the cables on/off (more wear and tear than a 2007 should have in my opinion.) The plastic cover that goes over the battery looks as if someone has attempted to cut out space so that a better connection can be made.

You can get a pair of stinger terminals cheap on ebay...

 

Just sounds like dodgy battery terminals, take the terminals off, check them and clean them making sure all connections are clean and tight, make sure body earth connection is clean and tight.

If required replace battery terminals and all should be fine.
