OK.. so I've seen that the SilverStar's aren't that great. Looking at the package, I think I can see why.. they are slightly less wattage than the Phillips bulbs that it had (60 vs. 65).

So my next question iswhathappens if I put bulbs rated athigher wattages like 100w? Thatshould put out more light but will it fry my wires or anything else? Will the truck only deliver the watts that it needs to and so the bulb's full potential isn't met butat least without danger? I want to get better and further lighting without killing the traffic, myself. I've considered HIDs and might look at the Starrs but not yet.

I would not go more than 5-10 watts over stock. The SilverStars you got were not the original ultra version that they came out with and then yanked because of some DOT ruling on the brightness of replacement bulbs. That is what some were raving about in the old threads. You can still get the super bright (rule violating!!) bulbs on ebay cheap but sylvania no longer offers them.

I went with Xenon 8000k bulbs, headlights and fogs. 8000k is the color of the beam. They go up to 9008k, but that is all the way in the blue spectrum.
Headlights are the H13, and the fogs are H10/9145.

The H3 headlights just suck, so a better bulb helps, but there is only so much you can do. IMHO the HID conversions are a waste of $$ and not legal in some states. Check your local lighting laws before you burn up that cash.

 

I have them a set of the B-Xenon HID headlights. I would have to double check the bulb manufacturer but I believe it is Phillips. I can check when I get home. I am selling it for much less than Star. If interested shoot me an email and I can get all the specs for you tonight. They do say DOT/SAE on the lens but I wouldn't put my name on it that they are.

I saw your post awhile back, but you didn't respond.
I asked you if you were selling the complete STARR HID System (Bi-Xenon) that retails for 1049.00
You don't seem to be too sure what you've got.
If they are the STARR (not STAR) HID system, you would know that they are DOT approved
Your earlier post stated you "didn't get them from STARR"
Can you explain exactly what you are selling ??

 

if u wana see in the dark and dont want the expensive upgrade just put piaa bulbs in. i have them in my head lights and fog and love them and can see real good. i also went to a custome shop and they gave me piaa bulbs that where diffrent from what i schould use and they assured me that the higher wattage would not fry my wires and a year later still no problem.i did it cause if somehing happened they where responsible for it all i had to do was hold on to my reciept they said.

I just got back from Autozone where I picked up the H13 Silverstars for the headlights and the H10/9145 Pilot Xenons for the fog lamps. They make a big difference for ~ $60.
