No that is not correct! They may have the same number but are NOT the same filter. Totally different engines!
They have the same P/N through GM though. I wouldn't think that they would give a single P/N to different products. The owners manual (2008) says I5 and V8 take the same part#.

My bad! Iam mistaken and you are correct! . The 2008 H3 and Alpha H3 both have the same panel air filter,GM part # 15942429. I think I was refering to the 2007 & 2008 filters as not being the same. One day I was wondering why an aftermarket filter from a 07' wouldn't fit an 08' H3. Sorry about that.

the 07 Avalanche has 5.3 and Fram has a large GM application chart for this filter. This is a stupid question I'm sure, has anyone measured the filter element? Here's the Fram link

Actually I did but I never cross referenced it with any other air filters and now I don’t recall the measurements. So I guess I’ll have to go out to the garage and check again.

I just tried the Avalanche K&N and it did not fit. It was about a 1/4 of and inch too big in length and width... I may try 332848 KN. It's dimensions look pretty close.

The OEM filter on the 08' H3 Alpha measures 12.5"x 10" x 2" and says FJW6 on the side. Maybe this will help to cross reference it to another brand of aftermarket filter.

Well I called Airaid today and they are in the process of coming up with a filter and they have nothing with the dimensions we need. They are still a few months away. Looks like it'sAirdocs I'll be waiting for.
