Alpha 5.3 piston slap ????
I ran in to a exH3 owner today, he said his Alpha needed a new engine at 125K because of piston slap. it cost him $5700 out of pocket.
he also said this common problem with 5.3(V8) at 125-150K, is this true Or B.S. ?????

Your question, while trying to have specifics, really doesn't. Piston slap happens in ALL internal combustion motors and is not limited to GM 5.3Ls. Not all GM 5.3Ls are the same.
Next, piston slap in and of itself does not require engine replacement. More likely a slap happy whinny owner that just bothered himself over the noise until he just couldn't stand it.
It can be limited or controlled by using different oil weights and even different brands of oil, as well as a quality oil filter with a better anti-drain valve.
There is more info on this all over the web.

I know I would get the real truth here.
