Default Again!! Transmission problems...

Hello friends! I need some help and info...

5 months ago my H2 gearbox was broken (was working only in first gear). I had purchased a complete rebuiding kit: plates, discs, electrical wiring complete solenoid kit, all interior parts were new!

Once the gearbox was repared (4 months ago since now) it was working perfectly, but yesterday I was driving with the H2 and I had lost all the gears.

So I turned off the engine, waiting some minutes and when I started the engine again I can change the gears with the hand but they're not entering, I mean, there is no first or rear gears.

I checked about the transmission oil, but level is correct and all is perfect.

I really don't know what's the problem, any idea?

My driving is very low and all the interior gearbox parts are new... so I don't know what to do...

Thanks in advance for any answer

I am not a transmission expert but I bet you broke the shell gear. There are some heavy duty replacement parts to make sure it wont happen again.

Hi and thanks for your answer...

The truth is that the shell gear was replaced by a heavy duty one...

This is why I really don't know what could be the problem

Bye

How did the internals look in the transmission when you disassembled it initially for the first rebuild?

It looks good, with no metal rush or any imperfections...

When I had the problem last time, we had connected the car with a computer using the OBD port and the program said that the problem was at the pair solenoid.

Anyway I had decided to make a complete rebuiding with all new internal parts.

This time, we had conected the computer and it shows there is no problem or fault, so we don't know where's the problem.

Any idea? Thanks!

Was the pump changed on the rebuild? You can do a line pressure test to see if the pressure is correct.

Sounds almost like you have an electrical problem. A bad connection or sensor, maybe a bad pcm.

Go to this site: http://www.gmtruckhq.com/?q=node/93
Its a list of common problems with the 4L60E

Hi and thanks for the link, it's very usefull!

This confirms what I was thinking about: or transfer case (I think not) or oil pump.

The oil level when the car is off, is a little over the max, but when I start the engine, the level is about 10cm over the max.

This is the oil pump right? I think so...

New info...

I've been talking with a transmission expert and he told me that 90% sure that will be the oil pump.

He also said that if finally the pronlem is at the pump I will must change the torque converter, do you think this is necessary?

Bye!

The transmission fluid level should drop when the truck is running. A line pressure gauge can check to see if your pump is good or not.
