Default Adjusting Parking Brake

Can anyone tell me where the access is for the Parking Brake adjustment? I need adjustment on my H3 manual tranny.

On the frame, under the drivers side, about the middle of the door.

Even though we have 4 wheel disc brakes, the parking brake is actually a small version of a brake drum, with small brake shoes, on the rear wheels. That is your parking brake. The adjustment on the cable mounted to the frame, is to take the slack out of the cable. If you've ever adjusted the brake shoes on an older vehicle (by using a 'spoon' type brake tool, and rotating the star wheel adjuster), that's how you compensate for wear, and adjust the parking brake.

I know what you're talking about drtom! It seems to me the only way to wear them out would be to forget that you've got the brake set, and start driving.

The cable stretches from use. I also have a manual trans and use my parking brake often when warming up my H3. Be careful adjusting it though...I broke mine. The threaded end on the cable was a little rusty and after a few turns with a wrench...SNAP! You can NOT buy just the cable. You have to buy the pedal assy. and it come with the new cable attached. Its not to pricey..it was about $60 retail. It was however, a MAJOR pain to install. You have to un-bolt the clutch pedal assy and remove it from the mounting studs to get the parking brake assy out. I didnt have to remove the drivers front inner fender to get the cable through the floor. There was enough room to get your hand up in there and guide the cable down. I also gave the new threaded cable end a good coat of anti-sieze so that later adjustments will go a little easier. Good luck!

Penetrating Oil people..... Penetrating Oil... I hadn't touched my adjustment cable on my 2006 H3 until today (2/19/18). I sprayed it with penetrating oil and then let it set for an hour.... The adjustment nut turned easily.
