Adding a C.B.
Hey all, adding a C.B. This weekend along with a couple other things, any ideas are welcome.
Yes, I do know C.B.s are outdated. But it's just for trail and mud runs.
Maybe a necessity for a zombie apocalypse also?
Anyway, here's the gear.

Thank you happythree, I was debating that but thought I wouldn't get a good ground from any bushings that might be on the mounting to the tailgate, I picked up some shielded grounding cable to make a ground if I needed it.
Can I ask where you mounted your ground wire to?
Personally, I think it would be much better mounted there also, then at least half of my antenna would be above my roof line.
Thanks in advance

on the hinge side on the floor i removed the bolt for the tie down and used a dremel like grinder to get bare metal/ did the same on the door where i used a BIG self tapping bolt. i used some heavy braid ground strap i had in my collection of junk for ham radio. smeared all the bare metal with electrical conductive grease to seal it from rust.
i have a tuner on the door and run the feed out thru the vent hidden in the door. you can run coax the same way.
on mine i just took off the door trim and stored it away, not needed.
i posted pix of the spare mount . maybe search will find it. i called it the "spare tire mount" i think.
you can work out a way to bolt onto the spare with the lugs maybe.
i carefully drilled three new holes where there arent any thru the wheel holes with a protective sleeve to avoid wheel damage. from there i used three pieces of threaded rod to bolt on an insulated phenolic plate for the ant. you dont need that for a small ant.
my post,,, 2 way radio, good news/bad news,,try searching since idk hoe to link.

Thanks happythree, I found that post, great write up and info, Good pics in the post.
I see how you used the vent for the cable routing, good plan.
Got it mostly figured out now.
I appreciate the help sir. Thanks again.

O.K., I built my mount today, and ran my wires through the rear vent. Got the outside all tightened up.
Now, happythree, before I go and run all the wires through the door jamb in the morning, could one of you tell me if I mounted everything correctly. There turned out to be a gap between the Quick Disconnect and the Stud Mount, so I'll trim the mount bolt tomorrow as well.
I'm also am going to ask if I actually need the ground as the coax has ring type mount?
I just don't want to fry anything when I turn it on
It did get late, so the last couple pics are dark. I'll get a couple more in the morning.
Thanks in advance guys.

I like the setup.
I have CB's in everything I own, my jeep Wrangler, Cherokee, E350, and my Silverado.
I have been on the fence on my H3 due to my extended warranty.
It states I cannot even add so much as Driving lights, or another Radio..
I will probably just go ahead and do it anyway..
