Default Adding 2 "12 Subs and Amp

I bought 2 "12 Kicker Comp Subs and a 1000 watt amp for my H3 and I was wondering if anyone knows what all I will need to hook it up. I have a 2006 Luxury Edition with the Monsoon 6 disc changer and my Monsoon sub blew a couple of weeks ago. Is it possible to disconnect the Monsoon sub? I know the factory amp drives all of the door speakers so Im keeping it in. What will I need to add another amp to the system? I thought about putting the amp in the storage compartment across from the sub in the back. Also are there any other items I will need to hook everything up? And can someone tell me how to gain access to the sub and amp in the back?

I replaced my stock radio with a Pioneer nav unit and added 2x 12" JL Audio subs and amp. I had Best Buy install it and all I needed was an amp kit. They left my stock monsoon amp alone to run my speakers and added the amp to run my subs.

I dont want to change the head unit. I have the 6 disc changer with the monsoon. Will I need any kind of adapters or will I need the AOEM-GM24? How easy is it to install subs and a new amp in a H3?

I have a polk audio 1200.1 amp and two polk 12" in my 07 w/ monsoon. I installed it myself. You will either replace your stock head unit or buy an integration unit like the alpine one that installs remotly and allows you to keep your stock unit. I used a new headunit. IF you go this route you will need an adapeter fomr best buy like $100. You may find it online cheaper. The adapter is expensive because it keeps your onstar active. I also bought a standard wiring kit for the amp. Standard install if you have ever done one. Took about 2 hours. The Monsoon sub is eadsy to disconnect. Carefully remove all the body panels around it and unplug.

I am not a huge audio tec but when i put my system in my old car all i had to do was plug a white and red rca plug into my head unit for the amp. why couldnt i just do that with the factor head unit? I havent taken it out yet, does it not have these outputs on it? if it does and the the monsoon is plug into it then cant i just buy a rca y splitter?

so when you say integration unit, would this work? PAC AOEM-GM24 GM 24-pin Premium Sound System Interface So an integration unit is all I will need for the hook-up? (Besides wires)

tomsbeast,

The factory head unit has a proprietary plug that goes to the monsoon amp. No RCAs (wouldn't that have been nice).
