About to Buy H3 Alpha
#11
I cannot exactly recall what part my mechanic (good family friend) said, maybe the intermediate steering shaft? It is located to the right of the engine and is accessible under the hood. It had a lot of pay in it when he showed me. GM wants about $200.00 for the part, and my mechanic said 1.5 hours in labor for a total of $300.00 out the door. I also got a quote to replace the windshield at about $180.00. So basically, I'll have $3,500 in it right away. After professional detail and a few misc. chrome piece replacements (gas door, wheel center caps that were stolen), I'll have about $4,000.00 in it, which is pretty damn good IMO for a one owner H3 Alpha with no rust, dents, and a host of new parts (tires, brakes, trans, transfer case, differential, etc.). Pics to follow...

Back from full detail. New center caps and chrome gas lid door is on the way. Since photos, windshield has been replaced and new tow hooks installed since old ones were corroded. Intermediate steering shaft gets replaced next week, and I'm good to go. After it's all said and done including professional detail, registration/plates, and the repairs/improvements I'm doing/done, I'll have maybe $4,400 total in it. Not bad for a clean H3 Alpha.
