98 H-1 need some Help
I need some help
My 98 H1 will not Disengage from TC Lock
I was using my ride to pull a Motor home that was stuck in a driveway.
I was pulling forward in Low/lock and was just spinning my wheels on the street just for a few seconds. When I tried to go back to High Range (the way I've always done it -- pull forward 10-15 ft. then back up 10-15 ft. put trans into Neutral then shift into High) The TC Lock light doesn't go out and the Transfer Case is staying in High/lock
Does anyone have some ideas on what the problem is ???????
I really don't want to go the Dealer

I'm not an expert by no means but my h1 has the same issue sometimes try just going forward not reversing and continue to shift the trans into neutral i find the levers stick on the older trucks try and shift it into Low gear to just keep cyclling it it should come out of it

Not uncommon for me to have to try several times. take it through the process several times and try to be on level ground when you do it. Tranny in neutral and strong, positive shift of the T-case to H. Drive forward 15-20 feet. It should disengage. Sometimes my TC light stays on for a minute or two.
