No, I'll definitely be taking this thing off roading. So 40" tires with a 6" lift, I only want the high quality lifts/shocks. What would you recommend and can I get them custom painted or already painted a color to match my hummer?

As far a shocks go for that I'd have to recommend the bilstein 5160 series with the remote reservoirs for it. you can find deals online for just under 200 a pop and they are made specifically for your vehicle.

Well.... if anybody tells you that you need a 12" lift for 40's might not be the best person to take advice from....

I have a 6" Fabtech, and I WHEEL 41x14.5-17's....

AND.... I have enough flex/room/etc to stuff them enough to STILL lift a tire off the ground....

Why would you recommend those? Are they high quality? I'd prefer the highest quality I can get, as long as it's not crazy expensive. 200 a pop isn't. Also, are the shocks or coils, unless they are the same thing, the ones that you see above the tire (technically inside and above from the outside) that have the color? I'd like to try to match it

They never said that, they just said a 12" lift with 46" tires would require a lot of work.

That's a really nice setup and a good looking hummer to boot. How do you like er muddin? Also, why are people saying 40's is pushing it with a 6" lift when you have that much room? Custom work done?

@ Muddy; Nice ride Muddy, I love it. @ Montecristo I have been looking at new shocks for mine and Have always used Bilsteins on all of my vehicles. I probably am not the best source for comparisons cause its all I buy. Quality of them is great and more importantly when you have a problem they replace them free of charge no questions asked. even after 30 years.

Ah, well thank you for the suggestion. I'll see what some other people say about high quality shocks as well. Though, it's also a really nice warranty, though I'd rather them just not ever break .

Hi

I have lifted my hummer h2 with 6 "super lift with 37 MT tires. Lift higher for 40-inch tires, you need to change the gear ratio .. here is a link to my hummer

It all depends on how much you want to spend. The 6" lift with 37 or 38" tires would be a perfect combo for offroading. You won't have any rubbing issues and the gear ratios would still be all right. Good luck building your H2.
