Default -5 Tire alignment

At 38,000 miles my H3 needed front end tire alignment. Computer screen had three of the fields showing green...the fourth upper left field was yellow and showed a -5.

I asked the garage manager if this was a problem. He stated that yellow -5 is acceptable.

I don't know. What can you tell me?

Informative link here:

Didn't answer my concern however it did mention that

"The manufacturers also provide the acceptable "minimum" and "maximum" angles for each specification. The minimum and maximum camber and caster specifications typically result in a range that remains within plus or minus 1-degree of the preferred angle."

It was probably camber and -.5 which is in the specified range but near the limit of the range. -.6 is the limit per the specs on the alignment sheet from my alignment on Sunday.

Took it back to Firestone. I guess emailing customer service and getting a 3 way call with the company got things right. They re did the job. Now it's all green. Camber and toe all at 0.0. Can't get much better. I even got a $25.00 discount.

All synthetic oil change + alignment + tire rotation for $102.00.

Factory spec on camber was -.1 IIRC. 0 will cause a little bit more wear on the outside edge of the tire. Difference should be minimal unless you are an agressive driver...
