Hey guys, new to the forum! Just got my h3 about 2 weeks ago and just took it out in the mud. Although, had a question about the 4WD low lock button. Is it supposed to just flash, or does it turn solid like the 4WD High and 4WD High Lock button? I can push the low lock button and it'll flash while I drive (not going above 5 mph) but after a few seconds it turns off and goes back to 4WD High (Not Lock).

Put transmission in neutral and shift to low and it should shift into 4 low and light go solid.
This is the procedure I found works best for mine. Could also be at a slow roll but my transmission needs to be in neutral.

This should help a little.

If this does NOT work then you have a serious issue in your t-case and need to get it looked at!

Just read the whole thread and feel a little sympathy for the original poster who asked for "layman's terms" 4high is for normal driving even in snow rain or mud . 4low is for when your likely to lose traction . Lock the center diff if your off road and think you might get stuck on the section ahead (with the center diff locked cornering becomes more difficult) locking the rear diff is really a last resort for when you do get stuck . Practice will allow you to predict whats needed and when .

Looney if you locked the diffs in High range you would tear your tyres to sheds bust your difflocks and probably crash . On the road and at speed your wheels need to be able to turn at different speeds, think about it , when you turn a corner your outside wheels have to rotate faster than your inside wheels because the have further to travel .

GM set it up that way so soccer moms didn't hit the button and ruin a diff. JK
Even in 4LO IT WILL disengage at 15-20mph. Forgot the exact speed.
