a senior member has just informed me that i would be better off trading for a alpha rather than engine swapping. so i was curious if there were any mods for the 3.5L I5 that could make the engine in anyway... awesome???? if the mods arent there ill be looking in to the trade more but as for now im curious what mods are worth the money=power.

having both the L5 and V8, you will not get anywhere the same performance for the money. Just purchase the Alpha. they are everywhere. I have done everything, but super/turbocharged my L5, and it will not even come close.

1) Intake, 2) PCM Tune, 3) PP Throttle Body, 4) E fan conversion, 5) Cat back exhaust, and you can even add 6) a header (like when your OEM cracks). Let's assume hypothetically this gets you approaching the performance of a stock Alpha IF you go no bigger that 33" tires and with better fuel economy.

1 thru 5 above will grow your 06 some *****, but it will not turn it into a V8.

Now think of it this way, you can buy an Alpha and do 1 thru 5 to it.

I'm actually wanting to put 35s on it. It has a leveling kit tho so I think they will fit with the right measurements. With the L5 would that take a lot out of it

DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON A LEVELING KIT!

Use the SEARCH function above to see the 100+ threads on why it is a waste of time and $. By the way 315s (35" tires) will fit on an H3/H3T without any modifications to the vehicle.

35s pretty much suck the power out of anything, worse on the 06 because the 3.5L has 20HP/TQ less than the 3.7L to start with.

Well, then the title of your thread and your opening post confused the crud out of us.

The mods are the same for the L52 (3.5L 2006) and LLR (3.7L 2007+), the effect of the mods is about the same, except that the 3.5L will always be appx 20HP/TQ lower in peak output than the 3.7L.
